Default Castrol Power 1 Racing equivalent?

Ok, please understand that I'm posting this with reluctance, because I hate, hate, absolutely *hate* the religious wars that crop up around oil preferences. I'm just looking for a simple, objective fact here.

The online copy of the owner's manual recommends Castrol Power 1 Racing oil. As far as I can tell Castrol doesn't sell such a product in the USA.

Is Castrol Power RS R4 the US equivalent? Or does the US manual reference a different product? Or am I just not finding Power 1?

Tx!

I believe you will need the full synthetic one.I cannot understand why do some companies name their products with another name in the USA or Europe?

RS R4 is a full synthetic. I suspect it's done simply to make my life more difficult, but perhaps I'm taking it too personally.

does the bike come loaded with synthetic oil from the factory? thought that was bad during the break in period.

On my flat twin, no synthetic before 6k mi according to the manual. My 1098 came with a synthetic fill from the factory as did all of my recent german cars. It depends...

As far as Power1, it's got a different multi-visc rating than the USA products. If it shows up in the USA manuals (anyone check, please?) I'm sure your dealer with have a part number for it. Personally, I prefer Mobil 1 MC synthetic oil...goes on sale at Cyclegear every year. Savings add up fast when you change the oil every track weekend.

Ducati recommends a weird Shell synthetic not available readily in the states. Whoops, maybe I'm touching off a discussion on oil religion. Sorry.

Well, if the US manual doesn't call out anything local, it's getting RS R4, especially because it's on sale at CG and there's another 10% off Thursday night.

I use that rs-r4 too ... Castrol was sued by mobil over this exact oil calling it full syn. When it is highly refined minerail oil and won in court . That why castrol formula one in the green label is not sold in the usa and is really full syn. And better oil .motul full syn. Double ester is great stuff as is mobil one .

From my research, Castrol Power 1 Racing is equivalent to Castrol RS R4T. After my 600 mile service next week, I'll use the RS R4T.
