Default Winter storage tips

Hi Folks

As the great British councils are going to start gritting the roads and I don't want salt spraying all over my S1, does anyone have any tips on what to do to the bike when I put it into my garage for the winter.

I am planning on filling the talk to the brim and putting the bike up on paddock stands but beyond that is there anything else I should do to protect it?

Cheers

Put some fuel stable in the tank before you fill it up and let it run. A good cleaning and use some of that Scott toiler stuff. Oil change. Battery tender. Cover for the bike.

Wash and wax
Oil the chain
Change the oil
Get it on a tender
Get fuel stabilizer in fuel system - tank to injectors

That is what I do

Thanks guys and thanks mods for moving this to the right forum section I didn't think of it as maintenance per se but of course it is.

Can anyone recommend a good fuel stabilizer? Something recommended by BMW and Nikasil bores? I generally use Stabil for boats and cars but they are GM Small Blocks with iron blocks/bores. How about the new StarTron by StarBrite for today's E10 fuels? Anyone heard anything about these products?

What does the fuel stabilizer do? I would have thought it best to leave the fuel tank low as petrol goes off.
I think it is best to have the stands that allow the suspension to hang without any load on it, may be wrong though.

Why not spray ACF50 everywhere and just carry on using it ?

Such a shame to lay a bike up for months... you always get some good days even in a UK winter.

I use Seafoam to stabilize the fuel for storage. Safe for ethanol blended fuels. Usually add some every few thousand miles for fuel system maintenance during the riding season too.

We get good days here in Utah, USA. I could see maybe riding the bike a few times in the winter. But, when the bike is not being used, what is the best battery tender to use? I saw this at Autozone for a good deal.

Deltran Battery Tender
