Default FYI....Rotella T6

Spoke with a couple of buddies that race (dual sport) and they said the Rotella T6 (20.00 from wal-mart for 1 gal) is as good as any "special" bike ouil and they love the stuff.

For real information on this oil pertaining to high performance motorcycles, search 'rotella' on the wera BBS. You'll find years of info on racers using this oil and never having any problems, in fact quite the opposite. It's a better oil than most any other and it's cheap to boot. These guys are harder on their engines than 99% of people on this board.

I've been using it for years without any problems, most recently in my attack built ZX6R for the past 7 months and the transmission is butter smooth with no shavings and great life.

If it makes you feel better to waste money on your bike's oil then by all means go for it.

+1 After Royal Purple XRP, it's my favorite oil. Use it or don't - it matters not to me, but don't malign it if you've never used it. My opinions are based on personal experience, years of racing with it and dozens of oil analyses. I've used just about everything out there and nothing shifts as well as XPR and Rotella-T Syn. In particular, I've never had M1 work well in any gearbox. YMMV.

I can assure you the oil is not the reason the jetta guys are blowing up turbos, last time I checked most diesels have turbos really really big ones in fact and running crazy boost and thats before you chip them.

I have used all sorts of oil. Rotella, mobil 1, racing, etc.

End the end, I found some preference based upon performance. For example, I found the FJR liked rotella but the transmission seemed to clunk more after 2000 miles than on mobil 1.

In the end, I think most people will agree that you should use anything you are comfortable with, with the exception of "energy conserving" oils, and they add friction modifiers to the oil which wreaks havoc on wet transmissions.
