Default Engine Oil Colour After 2500 miles......

Hi, my engine oil is extremely dark / black after 2500 miles. I had the first service done bang on time the next service being at 6000 miles. I have called the dealer and explained and they suggested i bring it down for an oil and filter change (at my cost which i have no problem with). I am only concerned as my previous sports bikes didnt discolour the engine oil between services.

a dark color is right. In fact the oil color darkness means nothing. Don't worry about that.
Change oil and filter and ... full throttle

Same here, I got 2K miles on my other bikes current oil, nice clear brown, can see right thru it thru the sight glass. Looks like honey.

Thanks for the replies guy's. Usual problem, you get something new and worry about the smallest of things instead of just riding it!

The oil color will depend on your driving style. The faster the oil is churrned the darker and more sludgy it will get. This is because the the molecule break down and the tiny tiny molecules of metal mixing with the oil.
