Braek - In oil
Does anyone know if it is okay to change the oil before the 600 mile mark? Is the oil in the bike from the factory a kind of break in oil that needs to stay in there untill 600 miles or it will impede the break in? I want to change it now because of some posts I have heard about blocked oil galleys and I want to be extra safe and change it every 200 miles for the first 600 miles. Will I disturb anything by doing this?

No one knows for sure, but there is no data to indicate that the oil that ships with the bike is anything but off-the-shelf oil.
Blocked oil galleries from leaving the original oil in to the 600-mile mark? That's pretty far-fetched. There might be some slight benefit from an early oil change to remove a wear particles that are not caught in the filter, but even this is probably a stretch. Cars these days ship with oil that stays in until 15K+ miles, so a 600-mile oil change is pretty conservative to begin with. But you won't harm anything if you want to do an earlier one.

Update
I called two dealers today and each one had a technician that recently attended the S1000 school. They both said that the bike is shipped with the fully synthetic 5w-40w Castrol RS. They also said it is okay to change the oil as much as I want.

Hell, I wasted my money... changed my oil at about 200 and then at the 600 mark. MANY more sparklies at the 200 mile mark than at 600. Did I waste money, maybe... Did it make me happier - oh yeah... and at the end of the day don't we all just want happiness

I don't think you wasted your money . You inspired me to change mine at 200 and I will do it again every 200 miles untill 600 mile mark. That one guy who posted going through 2 engines because of plugged oil galleys really made me nervous. Better safe than sorry. It's only money , and a small amount at that for insurance.

I don't suppose those dealers were the same ones who told you the S1000RR Maintenance CD is already out?
