Hey guys, 2016 s1krr with about 1,900 miles, I'm having a big issue with the brakes, spongy after sitting for a while, now I have read and searched for countless hours and days and I just don't know what's going on, I have taken it to the dealer twice already and going back again on Tuesday, they have bled the brakes, checked the calipers and still no solution, I have aftermarket levers I bought from eBay(temporary until asv comes out with their lever) going to put stock one back on later today and see what happens, pads are stock, rotors stock, and the service d'bag at BMW is being a &$!@$!! Anyone know what could be causing the issue?
Time to go back to the dealer. I would ask them to replace the master if bleeding the whole system doesn't work ( you have to exercise the ABS pump while bleeding). I would also look really carefully at all the fittings on the ABS pump, checking for seepage. Something is not right.
I'm not expert, and I know you said you did bleed, but I believe I had the same issue which bleeding solved the problem, just make sure to bleed both top and bottom.
In my case all the bubbles were trapped in the top nozzle (next to lever) as soon as I opened the top nozzle all the trapped bubbles escaped and the brakes worked perfect.
Hope this help.
Are you checking with the bike turned on or off? My 2016 the brakes feel mushy-ish (not horrible) until I start the bike, then they firm right up. They work just fine for me. Just thinking about possible scenarios.
Just went out and took this picture. Looks the same as yours albeit I gave a good strong squeeze. What is your lever adjustment dial set at? Mine is @ 2 which is farther from the bar. The bigger the number the closer to the bar it is.
mine is at 1 and bike on and off without the abs on its fine but considering the my abs is faulty I wouldn't know how it feels with the abs engaged
