Where to buy oil filter/oil for DIY change?

Per Motorcycle Oil Filter Cross Reference, these filters will fit -- but be sensitive to the length of the filter if you're using aftermarket exhaust headers (i.e. the Mobil M1-102 is too long to physically fit behind the Akraprovic exhaust pipe headers).

I've been using Rotella in all my 2 wheeled vehicles for aquite some time now with nothing to report other than, well, nothing.

I was going to run a Motul or other motorcycle specific brand oil in the S1k, but I still have some time to decide.

I've been using the Shell T6 5W-40 in my S1000RR for over a year. I didn't realize I could save $5 by getting it from Lowes - thanks for the tip!

I was primarily looking for the factory oil and filter, what brand does BMW use?

BMW oil. There are discussions on here about where they are branding it from but if you go to the dealer you will see them put BMW branded oil in your bike.
