Default Odd clutch "feedback?"

Recently purchased a new 2011 model and love (almost) everything about it! Question --- does anyone else experience odd clutch lever - for lack of a better term "feedback?" Seems to be particularly present during downshifts. No noises or other odd behavior however.

I have always owned Hondas, Yamahas, and Suzukis -- both with hydraulic and mechanical and standard and slipper clutches but haven't experienced anything like this. It's kind of difficult to explain, but feels like the cable is catching when the clutch is partially engaged or that something is loose in the clutch itself.

Others who have ridden it mention it as well, granted - none of us have ridden other SKRR's for comparison.

It's the ramp mechanism of the slipper clutch. Unfortunate, but normal. You will eventually get used to it or learn to ignore it.

Thanks for the info. Not really annoying at all...just a little concerned that there might be a problem. My SV1000S had a slipper clutch as well, but the hydraulic clutch must have eliminated the feel vs. the cable on the RR.

Mine has a sort of a 'grab' at the lever when getting on the gas. Odd, but normal.

I had exactly the same until the bike had it's running in service at 600 miles. It was significantly better after that. I didn't ask the dealership at the time, but I suspect it improved as a result of them adjusting the amount of freeplay in the clutch cable. I still occassionally get the sensation of the cable being snatched back by the clutch but far less frequently than when I first got it.

Mine had it as well, what's funny (interesting funny, not ha ha funny), is that I've learned to shift around it. What I mean is it used to only happen somethings. I kind of figured out when and how and now, some how, I've adapted to the point where is doesn't do any longer as I pull or shift where the bike doesn't do it any longer.

Which I'm glad because it kind of drove me nuts, I didn't like the feeling of the engagement, when it felt clunky.

Sorry for rambling...

Mine does the same, asked the dealer they reckon irs the clutch mechanism, however my cable started freying at the lever, it was replaced under warranty yet the catching feeling still persists.

I think the only way any of us could cure it would be to fit a STM slipper clutch basket....but my, are the exspensive or what.

Three things that should be on this bike, a good slipper clutch, hydraulic tappets and last but not least, a hydraulic clutch...c`mon bmw.

I believe hydraulic tappets are only viable up to a certain RPM.

Weight was saved over a hydraulic system for the clutch mechanism. I believe that was their statement somewhere in the literature.
