Default Gear shift assist quit working

My 2011 model gear shift assist quit working at 1800 miles. Beginning to get a bit concerned about reliablilty - the DTC/ABS switch didn't work off the showroom floor and had to be replaced. The dealer couldn't remove the 9K limiter at break-in service - almost had to replace the ECU but finally "tricked it into thinking it was a 2010 ECU....re-flash, re-flash, etc....etc...etc..."

Anyone else having problems with gear shift assist?

Check your clutch switch operation. should "click" when you pull the lever in. If it doesn't it needs to be adjusted. If it does "click" it still could be broken. Have the dealer check it.

Mine broke when I low sided. No worries though they should fix it under warranty.

Easy to check yourself. Try starting the bike in gear with the clutch pulled. If it won't start, the switch is the problem.

My 2010 w/ 9k on it is in the shop right now...DTC/ABS lights kept going on/off, QS no worky, and the fan seized up....all w/in the last 30 days. They found a plug that needed to be replaced on the DTC/ABS system and they think that will fix the QS issue as well. I'll let you know when I find out fer sure...they have had a few issues w/ some QS solenoid (black attachment w/ wire on shift linkage) and said they will change that next if the connector doesn't fix it.

Too bad yer bike has shaken yer faith right out of the box. Don't give up on her, she's a great bike and will make you proud...they will get her straightened out!

Plug for the ABS/DTC issue is probably the plug for the front wheel speed sensor. The plug on the wire harness side not the speed sensor end.

So they replaced the front speed sensor harness connector...the one w/ a history. But it didn't fix the issue. They then replaced the QS solenoid...and they think that has solved the problem. Now they are changing the front speed sensor itself since I am still getting DTC/ABS warning lights.

Any word back on your QS issue?

Haven't had a chance to check the clutch switch yet due to being out of town for a few days. Should have an opportunity to check it tonight and let everyone know. Hopefully that will be the problem as its an hour drive to the dealer and I'll have to get the trailer out...getting cold here in Chicago!

Viperclaw why would the switch on the clutch lever potentially be the problem? Just curious in case I ever experience any problems.
