Default Adjust brake lever play

I haven't looked too closely yet at the bike. I was out last weekend and it felt like a bit too much play before the brake applied. The spinner just adjusts where the lever sits relevant to the grip I think. Is there an adjustor on the cable?

It's hydraulic, so there's no cable. Maybe try pads with more initial bite. One of the forum vendors recently posted some info on the Ferodo line of pads explaining which favor various characteristics (including initial bite). I could be mistaken but I think the XRAC is the set they push for high bite, street use.

I've been happy with Carbon Lorraine CL59's too.

EBC not so much but have used them twice in a pinch.

The pads wear very fast on this bike. Check them often and if you can afford it keep an extra set on hand. I prefer to as they're not always in stock at the local bike stores. The S1K uses a common Brembo caliper but needs the pads to have a 4.5mm backing plate. 4mm is standard -- everybody has those. If you use 4mm plate pads in a pinch, replace them early. If they wear to near 0%, they can fall out.

ok thanks - sounds like i need to check the pads. So increased play probably equals pads wearing beneath limits?

Could try bleeding the brakes a little. I got better feel by wiggling the bars vigorously then bleeding the front. A few tiny bubbles and the lever got much tenser. No idea why it felt mushy and there was no leak.

I didn't like the way my brakes felt after about four months of use. Felt soft, and like they weren't grabbing well. Changed pads to EBC (helped and like them fine for street) but the biggest improvement was bleeding the brake fluid out and replacing it with Motul RBF 600. Seems that the original brake fluid is not anything special and gets cooked easily. Haven't had any issues since the fluid change.
