Default GALFER WAVE ROTORS NOW available for S1000RR

GALFER WAVE Rotors - FINALLY RELEASED.. .Anyone Racing, and Guys that are really hard on the brakes on the S1000RR might have already found out the hard way that the stock rotors, don't like to be abused.

NOT having a carrier... means that Rotors are easily susceptible to overheating and warping.

Galfer Finally has released their All new Wave Rotor Design for the S1000RR.

We should have them on our bike in the next 5-6 days.

And then get some Testing Done and Feedback to you guys.

Unfortunately, Galfer didn't get very many of these. And we ordered as many as we could get to fill our back orders.

So, If you want to get a set, before they are all sold out

I received a set of the ones they said would work which was a different part number. After a few calls I find out I needed a hp3 button kit from bmw which I scrapped the idea due to cost reasons over the hp parts price..i will entertain them again after I purchase some other parts..

I guess you guys misunderstood me. Galfer released a rotor a while back and said it would work on the s1000. This rotor was used on another bmw model. What they didn't say was in order to use them you had to purchase a hp3 button kit from bmw race parts. Since this wasn't discussed until the rotors were at my shop and the bike apart I was quite upset. The new rotors they just released is a direct bolt on. Sorry to mislead you. When I asked for the weight of the new rotors galfer told me they were not in the business to reduce weight but to improve performance. I would bet they are not much lighter since they told me that..

hardracing, please weigh them once you get a pair.

Unfortunately, as we suspected, because the Galfer Wave Rotor has a Carrier, and the stock ones, do NOT..... The Galfer FRONT Rotors are a little heavier.
The Rear Galfer , is of course... Lighter.

But, the main goal on this bike for the Front Rotors, is to have something that can take more abuse with less fad or warpage.

stock rotor:
front - 1165 g
rear - 736 g

galfer rotor:
front - 1390 g
rear - 621 g

Default Problems with Galfer Wave Rotors

Has anyone fitted a set of these and got them working OK?

I just spent 4 hours doing an A1 job, put the bike together and nearly threw myself off with the vibration on the front end?

Spoke to Galfer who so far have been helpful, but something clearly isnt right as they seem to know there is an issue?

.

You probably already did this step.
.... But, just to confirm.

Did you align the caliper/Pad/Rotor correctly when you put them back on.

Sometimes, if you push the pads back in and don't set the alignment correctly they will apply pressure to the rotors unevenly. It doesn't take much.
From the naked eye, it may seem fine, but as your finding out, not always the case.

A quick easy way to do this is:
Lift bike off ground with Race Stands (Front and Rear)
Push the pads back into the Caliper to leave about 2-3mm gap between pads and rotors.
Now you should have No Pad resistance on the front wheel.
So, you can Spin Front Tire as fast as you can, and SLAM the front MC closed, like your locking the brakes..

This shock action does a great job of aligning the pads with Rotors.
It only works well if you spin the tire really fast, and slam the brakes on. Sounds weird, but works great.

After 20 years of road racing and hundreds of tire changes, we found that works best for us.

If that doesn't work, make yourself a little plastic feeler gauge, and unbolt the calipers and test the runout of the rotors.
