I was looking into the same thing too but when i learned the ECU costs 5k w/o the exhaust i was immediately discouraged and they recommend to do heads and cams as well so now your up to about 10k. They also said its pretty complex and you can easily blow the bike if your not familiar with the system. They were talking 15-20hp from stock but thats with the head built. I was going to flash the computer with DPTune but my buddy just got his ECU back form them and the bike won't fire. The people at DPTune have no idea what the deal is and sent the ECU back to him stock and is currently waiting to get through the mail and make sure everything is fine.

mmm thnx for sharing
but the coast of the ECU and the activation code is around 1500$ give or take.. and if it's gone give me 4 or more ponies at the RW, then i'm up to it .. but what i really wanna know is, will i gain HP with swapping the ECU from OEM to RACE .. while using the same BAZZAZ on both !?
or Race ECU is only a substitute for BAZZAZ and PCV!!
i wish some1 would help with more info!

I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong but, quite simply, the fueling is either optimal or it isn't.Assuming your Bazzazz is well set up then running both together will give you nothing. The only way the hp kit may help is in ignition advance. The real advantage with the hp ecu is re-programming the traction control and power delivery. Those with the hp kit mostly complain of TOO MUCH power in the lower gears making the bike un-rideable and want it dialled out!

Doesn't the HP ECU also void your warranty? (even thought my local service manager told me it didn't... he wouldn't put it down on dealer letterhead. Lol)

It does void warranty and you have to sigh papers about it.It also must be activated through BMW system so the central BMW will know that you have it.

Hi there, I had an HP ECU fitted about 5 weeks ago. My engine is standard execpt for a full Arrow system and high flow filter, Power wise I cant say that there is much more power but the mid range is a bit stronger. One of the best things is the throttle is much smother (Perfect). You can adjust the traction control and all modes are full power so no vague throttle in rain mode etc, also no wheelies are great as no need to turn off traction control or switch to slick. Ass far as warranty is concerned my dealer who fitted it saidd there is still a warranty but somewhat limited. So what, The bike is much better for it.

I have the calibration kit as well. You can change everything with the traction control, Grip Level, slip settings, torque decrease and increase and much more plus fueling and ignition settings, but to be fair the fuel and ignition settings in the ECU that it comes with are fantastic. not to sure about the ABS I think the new ECU cancels out the abs. Suppose I should find out for sure really.

Can you use the Calibration kit without the HP ECU (Stock ECU)?
How much is the Calibration kit.?
Can you provide the part number for the calibration kit as i'm interested in ordering one..

Thanks..!
