Default 104+ Octane Boost

General question on using 104+ in a fairly new bike, 777 miles on the dash.
Would you recommend using it at such an early stage? Acceleration out of first gear is sluggish.

The reason for wanting to use it is due to the underrated fuel we get in the Islands, it is definitely not up to par as you would get on the main land. (Texaco/ Esso).
what are you thoughts on using it in every othe full up?

no PCV

You'll get a lot of opinions on this - mine is that it won't make the slightest difference, but try it and see what your butt dyno says. There is no reason to use (or not use) a booster during break-in.

Why do you think the fuel on the islands is sub-standard?

104 burns slower than 95. Therefore it needs to ignite earlier. We can't advance the timing on the BMW so it will loose power. Been there done that.

That stuff won't do jack!

My old car had a datalogger that monitored the knock sensor which had an effect on the stock ecu's influence on timing. I tried a bunch of different octane boost additives over the course of a few months just to satisfy my curiosity . I only added during fill-ups for redundancy and filled up at the same station and same pumps. Just about none of the claimed boosters worked with the exception of the NOS race formula(x2 bottles) and my own, which I stood with for a while(xylene)

i think it really depends on whether or not the bike acutally "needs" it. As mentioned above, it burns slower, which equates to "cooler", high octane is excellent to combat detonation, however, is really only needed if the ecu can advance timing to take advantage of it... Most likey not necessary and could lose performance. However, if you want to try it, you're better off mixing in race gas rather than the bottle stuff... my 02 cents

Mixing in race gas will require ignition timing adjustments as well. On my last race bike, 06 GSXR 600, we mixed 50/50 pump/Outlaw Race gas with excellent results. It did take extensive dyno tuning, but when we were done we saved a lot of $$$ compared to straight race gas and only gave up .65 hp compared to 100% race gas.

With out being able to adjust for timing, your wasting your money.

Thanks guys, a lot of information to consider. I found that on my GSR 600 it made a big difference along with the PC. I use it for about three fill ups(one Bottle) every so often and it did; to me make a very big difference in performance. During the period i was using it i was averaging 148-152MPH top speed,considering its a naked bike.

I had to do the same with my AMG a few years ago, the dealer here said the gas isn't that great and effected performance. I haven't installed my PCV yet so i guest i can wait and see how that effects performance when i install and tune it.
