Default PCV....what tha?

Hi,

Just wondering I have a 2010 S1000 that still has the stock pipe, I have intentions of upgrading but concerned about noise. I upgraded from a buell 1125r with HPE pipes and lets just say I'm well known to the local law enforcement, don't need anymore noise issues. Just wondering would there be any benefit fitting a PCV and I guess the auto tune without changing the pipes, and what benefits could I expect?

Will you benefit... yes, but it's fairly minor IMO w/a stock setup. My recommendation would be to leave it alone and save your money - if you plan to stay w/the stock pipe. However, if down the road you think you'll switch to an aftermarket exhaust, then I'd say go on and get the PCV and AutoTuner now or any time between now and then.

My $.02...

There are such things as road legal aftermarket pipes. Sure, you could go the full hog and stick a scaffolding pipe on the end but like you say you tend to attract unwanted attention.

Perhaps middle ground is the best idea in your circumstances and get a not so loud aftermarket one with PCV. Some may say they're not worth it but the akra shorty with PCV added 13 bhp at the top end (not that I'm they're for very long at any one time) but as far as I'm concerned is more aesthetically pleasing and sounds better.

Y'know what it's like, you get an idea and the willpower ebbs away. You will get an aftermarket exhaust, you will get an aftermarket exhaust :-D
