Default Opinions on Akra race with carbon long can

Overall, the system is exactly what I was looking for. The fit & finish is exemplary, and the optional carbon mounting bracket looks great. Sound is phenomenal; not too loud (would not want it any louder personally, and the shorty exceeded several local tracks DB limits), with a deep, resonant sound. I am running it without the insert, a BMC race, & with Dan's map on the PC V.

A few niggles:

1) The instructions are incomplete, and not entirely accurate.
2) There is no spring tool.
3) There is increased chassis vibration (not a big deal, but definitely noticeable).
4) Midrange, while improved, still does not feel as strong as my 08 CBR1000RR's
5) I'll probably want to get a Sharkskin lower to fill the gap where the cat was. Another $240 + paint costs. (sigh).

At this price point, I am disappointed with 1 & 2 above. Akra should include a spring tool & provide better, more accurate installation instructions.

Overall, a highly recommended upgrade.

Oh yeah, and the Ballistic battery rocks!

I think akra should put a noise dumper optional in their shorty full exhaust and every body will be happy )

Are you really upset enough to moan about no spring tool? Why?

Also I'm not exactly mechanically minded, and this is the first exhaust Ive ever swapped and I cant remember any missing or puzzling sections in the instructions. Just curious.

Yes.

At this price, having to fiddle around with pliers and using other springs as tools is BS. Other lower-priced units come with a spring tool which makes installation/removal much easier.

I got a spring tool with mine. I was also 100% satisfied with the instructions.

P.S. Your blade has much shorter gearing (it is geared for about 20kph less top end). With +3 teeth on the rear which will even the gearing out, the BMW gets very funky in the midrange.

Thanks for the info. I'm leaning towards the Akra.
