Default Tell me bout your Akra

I have been considering buying a Shorty from Akra. However, other than the bling factor I don't see its justified as far as performance goes. I also hear the bike sounds different. Can I get some comments from those that have these mounted?

IMHO The Akra shorty is purely expensive bling.

I have one because i love the look of it. I'm sure it adds nothing to my bikes performance, but it sounds very nice (with the powervalve/zorst flap dodah disconnected).

And i think my todger has gained 2" in length

That Yoshi R55 looks bloody nice as well though

What S1RR said ^^^ I'm under the impression you're talking about the slip-on, correct? Sound wise, not much difference. Power wise, not much difference. The BMW version of the slip-on though is REALLY nice looking. The two I had narrowed it down to were the two mentioned above. Both are over priced for what you get, but the Akra is really over priced. But dayum it looks good. The biggest sound improvement you'll get if you don't remove the cat is by removing the cable from the exhaust valve on the exit of the cat. The bike sounds a little throatier below 5K, no sound impact beyond that. There's a write up in the DIY section.

I have since sold my stock exhaust and sold the slip-on BMW Akra and have the full system w/long can.

Done the exhaust mod. Works AWESOME. Now I am working on painting the original exhaust black until I can decide between a used akra full system or a tecbike underbelly and akra/yoshi slip on. i am rooting more for the akra ahead in looks.

I have the shorty. I don't know how it sounds when I'm riding 'cause I have rubber Earplugs that seal so good that I can only hear the engine.

I like the look.
