Bad vibrations after installing full Akra System!
Hi,
I recently installed the akra Race System (with the Long can...no cat).
After installing the System i took the Bike for a ride, but unfortunately i had to realize that the vibrations have gotten really bad...Handlebars, right footpeg.
Any of you experienced the same after removing the oem exhaust system for a full System ???

try putting a washer between exhaust hanger plate and right foot rest where the bolt goes through - the exhaust vibrates with the coller/spacer the bolt goes through when it tightens against frame - washer creates a space when fitted -worked on mine

You are aware that i'm talking about a Full System with a Long can which is held at the passenger peg? I'm not talking about the low can which is bolted to the Rider footpeg.

I used their CF hanger and have no issues with vibration. Click on their schematic:
RACING & EVOLUTION EXHAUST SYSTEM for the BMW S 1000 RR - Akrapovic
Quite frankly, the Akrapovic spring connectors between the pipe joints allow the system just enough flex to dampen a lot of the harmonic vibrations inherent in a rigidly assembled system. The one thing to consider is that the weight loss of the bike (particularly with the removal of the converter), may lead to some harmonics at a different RPM range than before.

There is no way that fitting an Akra full system will create a vibration problem. You are either imagining it or something else has happened at the same time. But re-fitting the stock pipe will not take the vibes away.

i might be inclined to disagree a little, i agree that fitting an after market pipe really shouldn't create vibration, BUT imagine the cat as a large bar end weight it will soak up some vibration like bar end weights.....
but i couldn't imagine why the only assumption would be that the bike had the vibration before and now its noticeable, i mean even the riders specific weight could change the frequency of the vibration somehow i know that much....
i dont know its an opinion but i think taking that amount of weight from the bike that was bolted to the frame and isnt any more might change something if not a lot........

That was my thought as well.
Don get me wrong, i do have small vibrations in the barends and the right footpeg with the standard system, but they seemed a lot more noticeable after fitting the full system.
Even at idle the mirrors and the front fairing ends (upper left and right side of the screen) where shaking a lot more than with the standard system.

I agree with this, and think that the possible "something else" happening at the same time might be the engine running differently with the full exhaust? Did you add a PCV or other fueling control with the Akra? Perhaps smoothing out the engine will eliminate the vibes.

I don't have the akra system, but I do have a full system and I have no vibration. We did notice last week that the dealer that did the install bypassed the springs at the header and directly bolted the header to the exhaust ports. I wonder if that cut down vibration. See pic below.
