Default Akropovic and Tuning

I am considering a S1000RR with full Akro system. Can current owners with this system give me some guideance on noise levels in comparison to stock? In addition, does the OE fuel control compensate for the decrease in back pressure? If not, what are the options for remapping? Has anyone reversed the existing fuel mapping to allow reflashing of the factory ECU?

Any chance anyone lives in the West Palm Beach area?

Thanks Much,
Bill

It depends on the system.
If it is the long can then it runs about 102db without baffle and about 98db with baffle.
The akra system is supplied with the O2 sensor holes plugged off so,assuming no power commander is installed, make sure the stock O2 sensors are fitted and the ecu will compensate.Although for perfection a pcv or similar should be fitted and dyno mapped.

Can you advise on stock db levels for comparison? Have you run the full Akropovic system without any trim for the fuel control? Did the factory system get upset when it did not see the normal delta O2 readings across the catalytic converter?

Have you looked at noise levels for other full systems? I ask because weight (or lack there of) is one of my primary targets for bike mods. I would be curious if there are other full systems out there that provide the weight reduction but are friendly to the neighbors.

i have a 2011 S1K with Full Akro EVO system traditional long can carbon and the sound is awesome..How loud on db im not sure ? is it annoying not at all i even have the db killer removed so you should be all good man. I also have a power commander with Dan kyle map ...everything works great. If your buying a full exhaust go with the power commander for the extra $300 bucks and put your mind to rest. good luck

I also have an Akra system with the long carbon can. The sound and looks are great. I run and tuned mine without the db killer in it. I run a PCV in it and it made some good midrange power but only about 3-4 hp on the top end. The shorty was just too loud and didnt have that 2010 WSBK look to me. The carbon also cools very well and is cool to the touch when running. Sound is a deep rumble. I LOVE THIS BIKE!!!
