Default Replacing the Catalytic Converter with through pipe

Okay, I don't have the cash at the moment for a complete replacement of the stock exhaust system, after buying some track fairings. But I would at least replace the catalytic converter with through pipes to save the weight and eliminate the heat from the converter frying the track plastic.

Any suggestions out there or recommened suppliers????

Thanks
Patrick

I would recommend you look into Austin racing. They have the so called cut and shut system which gets rid of the converter. austinracing.info

the ARCS is a mid pipe system with and end can. You can have the original version or the side exit GP3 system. You use the stock headers, cut it off just before the CAT and install the mid pipe and end can. Works great.

There was also someone selling just the mid pipe or link pipe on ebay which would allow you to add the stock muffler or any slip on made for the S1K. There is a thread on here somewhere about it, search is your friend.

There are several options, but as I said before, the looks of either the ARCS or the full system by austin racing is the best out there. Not to mention the craftsmanship that goes into those. I just recently ordered my full system, and have exchanged around 50 emails with Rich (aka Neo), (I am a difficult person to deal with), and he was just very patient and helpful. I highly recommend them.

Default Y pipe for S1000rr

Thank you all for writing back. I was hoping to find a Y-pipe to replace the CAT converter as a short term fix, then save my nickles and dimes for a full system at a later date..I will take a look at the ebay supplier and see what he has. If anyone has another suggestion please let me know.

Thank you,
Patrick

Default Y Pipe to replace Cat Coverter

On the ebay Y-Pipe, did you end up welding it on or clamining it?

Thanks for the information...I went ahead and ordered the Y pipe from the Ebay supplier...I wanted to ask, do you have to cut the catalytic converter off or is it held in place??
