Default Ceramic coated exhaust

I found a full stock exhaust on here so I bought it and had it ceramic coated a satin black. I just felt the stock exhaust was ugly as it discolored from heat. So my winter project is done..thanks to this site/members for help with adjusting the cables in the exhaust, torque specs, and a few other helpful hints.

Anyone want to buy a stock exhaust?

Here are a few pics.

I did the whole exhaust. header cat all the way to the slip on. The exhaust cost me 180 and the ceramic coating 150. But, hey next time I am at the gap you will not see this!!! Keep in mind that I still have my old exhaust with all cables, valves intact, slip on and all covers that i could sell and re-coop some of that money.

Default Coating

I Ceramic coated the exhaust on mine also. But NOT the cat. The Cat should NOT be ceramic coated, this coating keeps heat in and will eventually destroy the cat. Just a heads up. This knowledge comes from my wife, who worked for a industrial powder coating business in Cali for two years.

That kinda defeats the purpose, the reason to ceramic coat is to make the bike look better by blending the cat and header with the lower black plastics. Well, I don't get that many miles on my bike in a year so I think I will be good for a few years. I got my bike April 2010 and only have 7,000 miles on it.

So you think the trapped heat will burn up the inside of the cat? I wonder if the ceramic coating will keep the frame from getting so darn hot? We will see in the spring...we are planning our Gap trip already.
