Default Too Good To Be True?

I told the dealer I wanted a full exhaust on my 2012 after break in and he said I don't need a power commander. He said the ECU adjusts after a few miles of running like crap and then it sorts itself out. Is this too good to be true with a full exhaust?

The answer is Yes and No... The ECU will adjust (prolly a little more than a few miles though)... Keep in mind it is adjusting to get back to it's own base map (fuel/timing curves) which aren't optimized for power, smoothness, etc. So when the simple question comes up "Do I need a PCV or Bazzaz... the answer is 'No'"... But if the question is, do I need a PCV or Bazzaz to get the full performance out of my $1,200 exhaust, then the answer is 'Yes'... By doing so, you can set your bike up to achieve your own AFRs (resulting in better smoothness, acceleration, hp, torque, potentially fuel economy, etc.) instead of what is programmed into the BMW's ECU.

So the answer is Yes and No.

Will a PCV or Bazzaz smooth out a stock exhaust or give your more HP?

Smooth and better acceleration unless at track or some kind of closed controlled variables is a seat of the pants evaluation.

I had a PCV and custom map done on mine (prior to putting the full Akra on) when I just had the stock exhaust (actually the Akra slip-on) and we got about 2.X more HP out of it. I didn't notice the additional power but it did seem to be snappier. Personally, unless you were going to get a full exhaust, I don't think I would buy a fueling module.

Thanks! Not sure what the bike will become in the future, but if I could get it to be even smoother and "feel" stronger in the mid-range, that may be worth.
