Default Which One is Best?

After I break in my 2012, I plan on a full exhaust. I want minimal weight, maximum power, and minimal noise. I also don't want to have to go without some fairings because there's no room from the new pipe I know... cake and eat it too...

Suggestions?

Thanks!

There are a lot of discussions on that subject. And you will get a lot of different answers I'm sure. However few of us have 2012's so your going to be our tester. Lol

The other day a member answered a simular question with one of the best answers ever when I considered it. Skip the exhaust and spend that money on suspension first. You will not regret it.

Im in the same boat as you, once i can confirm fitment i think i might see about a taylormade..i know its loud but there is no way in hell its louder than the boz moira i had on my zx10. i like the taylormade because it looks the best, has the best fit and apparently sounds like sex. but it is a bit higher on the loudness scale (has db killer option though...)

2010 BMW S 1000 RR MOTOGP STYLE FULL EXHAUST SYSTEM <- dunno if it fits 2012 yet

i also considered this, but i think i am going to get the pipe first to drop off that extra weight before i get forks and shock (or anything suspension) so i dont have to get it set up again after the pipe (i think the taylormade drops 15lbs?)

but yea, suspension is important too....prob wont hurt to get your bike set up correctly at the very least. in the scope of things suspension is way more important than the pipe.

Hi mate.

I recently spent hours on line, especially this site deciding on an exhaust for my new 2011 model, so i now consider myself an expert!!

Theres always an argument for whether its worth spending loads of money on an exhaust, often the gains are negotiatable.

But for me, looks, noise, performance, weight loss (mainly looks!) will always make me go for an exhaust first and lets be fair, we've chosen the bmw over other alternative 1000's that are on the market and cheaper (Blade, R1 etc) so why start watching the pennies now??!!

Have a good search about on here, theres the Austin ARCS half system & full system, Arrow, Akrapovic, Graves....the list goes on...........

Do you keep the belly pan? or go full carbon belly pan??!! with a full system and cat removed it leaves a large gap underneath.
A lot of people go full bellypan, personally its not for me but then its all about personal taste.

In the end i've gone for Yoshimura R77 titanium system with carbon can for a couple of reasons:
  • the can is not too big, some look quite large (akra springs to mind)
  • quite rare, probably the price tag causes that ($2000 imported to UK )
  • titanium headers, gonna go blue and look sweeeeet and unbelievably light, when i first picked up the box the other day i thought it was empty!
  • comes with db killer & carbon hanger
  • very high quality
  • the other big reason is its the only system im aware of that comes with a belly pan extension, have a google for s1000rr r77 and you'll see what i mean, i think it looks really nice.
Some people dont like the Yosh as it has japanese writing on it, against a german background but that didnt bother me.

Moral of story is have a good look about fella, theres plenty out there, between the top 4/5 names mentioned theres no real difference in power output or weight, so it comes down to budget or looks etc.
have fun looking!!!!
Dont forget to save your money for a PC5 or bazzaz unit as well!!!

(and rearsets, crash protectors, levers, sprockets, seat cowl, carbon bits, chain adjusters, screen..........it goes on & on!! )

Do you know what the DB rating is with the DB killer in compared to stock? I'm concerned that tracks like laguna seca have a 92db limit, so stock we barely make it and most aftermarket get ups, blow through this limit (I read somewhere a full yoshi kit came it at a whopping 107db!)

i read somewhere that with db killer in its comparable to stock, obviously a little bit louder but not much, think without was about 105?

My friend has just had a extendable baffle made for trackdays, you can undo it in the middle and it extend to double the length, so may investigaate that as i'll be doing trackdays on her this year.

I chose the Akra Evo Short do to weight and muffler is in stock location. Not into the big ugly can hanging on the side.
Now low DB is my last thing I worry about.
Plus it looks great with belly pan.

I've got a Akra full race no cat, it's light but decibels are sky high at 6500rpm enough to pop your ears on snap throttle
