10K for a salvage bike, you have got to be kidding! And the insurance company salvaged out the bike due to a scratch on the frame? Total BS!

Had a dealer low side their demo bike at the track. I stopped at the dealership because I wanted to buy it as a track bike. Told me that it would be a while until they decided if they would sell it or claim it. 2 weeks later they called and offered it to me for $10K, and told me they had track plastics I could buy from them for $1k. That thing looked like it exploded--frame, and forks all intact, all "cosmetic" damage......Oh, it just needs a guage cluster to get it going again--pass.....

At least you could ride this guy's bike.....

Yes it is total BS that the insurance co totalled the bike due to 2 scratches , BUT the scratches weren't there before the owner rode it that day, and if you pay for insurance (like I do , through the teeth) you wouldn't except any less than a perfect bike back from the insurance co......would you ?

The frame is 5K and a swingarm is 3K + labour would put the bike over the 50% of the total cost of bike, hence the total loss of a write off. bike has been sold to a local racer and will be raced . thanks for your input guys, thanks for the realistic input ajfreez.

I own an insurance agency and the due total biles out for fairing scratches. There afraid of damage underneath and don't want to be liable for what happens after the repairs.
