I don't recommend doing it on highways.
I think the biggest part of learning wheelies is getting comfortable standing on the pegs.
Once you get comfortable standing on the pegs you start taking small steps to bring the front wheel up.
There are many ways to do this.
The easiest way for me was to just bounce the front end and gas.
A more controlled way is to clutch it. Another part that helped me out was getting videos of me trying to do them.
You will notice when you first try a few wheelies the front end feels like it's going to loop out. But, then when you see a video of yourself you soon realize how much higher you really can go.
The next key for me was once i got the bike up in air my arms were bent up to my tank. I did not want to stretch arms all the way back. Once i changed this part things started to come together.
I then tried stretching my arm all the way back and it clicked.
It almost feels like your hanging off the bike all the way back.
This was my first controlled wheelie i did on my gsxr1k
a few years back
