Default Track day and gopro hero issue

Here's a vid from our last track day at Valencia (Ricardo Tormo Circuit, Cheste).

The GoPro is excellent in almost everything, but I like to record and see things I can improve, and with the wide angle lens I think it distorts the track and I can't detect i.e. wrong turning points, it's only me or anyone else can notice it?

I know that, Wolielmo, my last bike revved up to 9-10k rpm. only, I'm getting used to my 1st RR in my life... and I'm getting old as well!!

Not sure if I've find the answer to that distortion (as the firmware does not take care of that, thx anyway BUZZ), and it's a non wide angle 45º carcass

although there's an advice saying " **NOT** for use with newer, HD HERO cameras."

I think it is the nature of a cheaper wide angle lens (fisheye)... I have the GoPro and use it on the tail pointing forward as I'm more interested in body position right now plus it gives a pretty good perspective. It doesn't give you great perspective on your lines (in reviewing the video) but I usually just utilize real time feedback for lines - you kinda know if you got the line right or not once you're on the other side... and of course when possible, I've tried to have some the race guys/experts go out there ahead of me and let me follow them... which has been HUGE!

Here's a shot from the tail to give you an idea. This was shot w/the GoPro HD and in one of its lower settings (30fps)

LOL.
That is correct. Firmware has nothing to do with the Fisheye.

That is all in the Lens and the Casing.

GoPro does make a NON-Fish eye (a.k.a Narrow angle).
But, it's only in standard Def.

If your main concern is your lines, you may want to try and lower the camera and run it on the side of the bike fairing. A lot of guys do that to see Exactly where they are on the track.
The one nice advantage of the wide angle is.. just that. You get more peripheral view.

Your other option of course would be change to a lipstick style camera. Something like Contour HD.

1000RR, that's a nice view, and I'm not talking about butts, right?
But my favourite one it's from the cockpit. Unless body positioning, it gives you most of the info I like to have. My bodywork on the bike is almost nobodywork, so no point of viewing how rusty I am (joking, in fact I have one of those shots as well)

I use to mount 2 cameras at the time, just for fun, as I can't get (or dunno how to get) any relevant info from the rear mount, unless guessing the make&model of the bikes that are overtaking me...

But that was with a 250kg sport-touring, plenty of room for a mount (...or two).

I've tried as well the mount position (though not that low) mentioned by HardRacing, and it's quite spectacular (though the fairing is always trembling), but still without changing my favourite perspective, the cockpit. I'll keep looking for the best option. Lipstick or Contour are good ones for sure, thanks, got to give a try on these.
