Default First trackday on S1000

Well I finally go back on Road America after a nasty high side that broke my neck a few years back. It took a few sessions to get back up to speed but, still didn't push to hard. Just had fun and no ohh **** moments!!! It took a session to figure out what gear to be in and how to come up the hill on the front straight. Overall the S1000 performed flawlessly.... the only problem I encountered was some serious head shake coming up the hill on the front straight. I think the stock steering damper may have to go. It sure was fun pulling all those other 1000's!!!

First time I tucked I pointed the camera down. ooppps

great video, amazing how stable the bike is under accelleration and braking.

What sort of camera are you using? tank mounted?

I use a gopro. I need to make something to mount it on a plate in the hole in the center of the triple tree. I would like to see the speedo and not hit it when tucked.
Road America is a long fast track where liter bikes rule. I had the only S1000 and I think a few guys on liter bikes where shocked when they were getting passed like they were on 600's.
I'm sure the bike would have moved around a bit more if I was pushing it. The power ones really worked well at 23psi rear and 30 front... unbelievable grip. It wasn't so stable coming up the hill when I was pushing red line in each gear. I started short shifting and getting as much weight forward as I could. Even with short shifting up the hill, I was consistently hitting 168 MPH on the front straight.
This bike is just unbelievable on the track! Very fun day turning good lap times without trying. Maybe next time I will actually push a little and go deeper into the corners.
