It's interesting how our sound preferences change over the decades. When I was a kid -- wa-a-a-y before you were born, James -- the most pleasing vehicle voices were low and throaty. On the street it was the late 40's/early '50's Mercs and Hudsons that made our heads snap around. On the track, the Offenhausen roars sent chills up the spine. For a bike nut, though, the most musical sound on the planet was the earth-shaking "brack" of an unrestricted big single Manx Norton (though the almost evil bass scream of a BMW sidecar outfit was incredibly exciting, too).
Today, I also love the F1 scream (and that of the Yamaha M1, as well). Still, it's the deeper voiced Ducatis that sound especially nice to me. You'd think, then, that Harleys would be appealing. But, they're not. I find them extremely annoying. Go figure...
