I'll start by saying that my response may be quite biased

I rate it like this: It saved my life! Had a head on collision this past November, the helmet took a good enough "blow" to crack right above my left temple. No headache, no concussion, nothing. There's quite a bit of R&D that went into the crumple zones and materials used for the helmet. I never wanted to "test" my helmet... but I did, and it performed like a champ. Would never buy another brand... not that the others aren't equally as good (I don't have experience like that with the others

)... but after putting mine through that, I am a die-hard (no pun intended) fan of Shark. Mine was the RSR2 Duhamel... found it in the States for around $245 (last year's model) and I think it is normally around $670-ish.
My replacement helmet was the exact same helmet - I'm sold!!
THIS is a picture of the aftermath of my helmet.
Also, the RSR2 is one of the lightest (if not "the" lightest) helmet on the market (~1,290g +/- 50g according to Shark's specifications)... You can see some comparisons on weight
HERE.
THIS is a good video about the design.
Good luck...
