Default 1st Trackday on RR

Here's some pics from my first trackday on the RR at Knockhill last week.

This is the first time that I've had this bike at Knockhill and it was fantastic - even during the wet session at night.

Back down again tomorrow for another go

You really need to work on getting off the inside of the bike, at the very least keep your upper body neutral while getting your butt off the seat. Your upper body is leaning the wrong way and it is adversely affecting how much lean angle you can carry in a corner. You already have a good amount of lean in the first pic, but your speed through that corner is suffering. You can go so much faster with the same lean angle with more stability with your body on the inside of the corner.

Also, get some shorter frame sliders. If you clip those on some curbing on apex, you will pitch the bike. Woodcraft makes some really nice shorties for racers.

Those look like R&G sliders. Got to test the left slider a couple weeks ago at NJMP Thunderbolt, turn 5.

I agree they are way too big. Also, the bolt head is exposed and could make removal difficult. I'm going to put Woodcraft sliders on. The attach bolt is protected and the puck is replaceable.

Yeah, not to pick on you dude, but I thought the exact same thing when I saw those pics... you're gonna punt yourself off that thing one of these days. See the attached pic. Same type of corner, bike is kept more upright and carrying more speed with less lean angle. And I didn't even have to get off the bike that much to accomplish that... still plenty of lean angle to be had if necessary. Okay, lecture over... go have some fun and be safe!

Useful comments guys.

My body position is my weak point and does need more work

I had a good chat with one of the instructors about this the other day and followed his advice while on track and I feel an improvement already.

No pics im afraid as it rained constantly for the whole day.

I'll get those crash bungs changed too.

Nice pics!

Brave man pushing your baby in the wet!

Raining at Knockhill.......i am not surprised. I dont think i have EVER been to Knockhill and it did not rain at some point.

Is the main corner before the front straight still bumpy as hell?

Did you wheelie going over the dip on the main straight?

It's all good man, just looking at you it's clear you have potential for real speed on the track. You're already leaning the bike more than most people are willing to do, and for most that's one of the biggest obstacles to speed.

You'll get there, just work on the basics and don't do something that feels uncomfortable after trying it for a while, the best BP is the one that feels comfortable to YOU.

It's been said a few times on the thread... indeed, congrats on the lean angle but PLEASE get your body a bit off the bike. I cringe (scared) when I see the pictures.

What tires were you running?

Can't say I noticed the hairpain being that bumpy anymore.

And yes the front does tend to come up on the straight.
