I'd agree Nigel... Beauty. At first I wasn't a fan of the White w/Blue & Red... After looking at various photos, I think that is a good way to go. With the ones you posted, that thing really looks good.

Thanks for the photos. May have to opt for this color option if I decide to drop the coin on a new BMW. BTW, the '08 CBR1000RR looks like it is going to be a total loss. They stopped estimating once they reached $18K...

Yes and no... With as hard of a hit that it took on the left side engine/crank area, I'm not sure I'd want it repaired for the sake of how much trust I would have in the finished product. However, it would be the cheapest (for me) route to go since buying an S1000RR would be a bit more if I decide to get another.

I'll be made whole on the deal. Been w/State Farm a long time and they always treat me right.

I can tell you 1st hand that the CBR is EXTREMELY nimble in the turns... so if they are correct in saying that the BMW is as good or better, that will be an impressive package! The CBR seemed almost telepathic; it should be interesting to see some side by side tests early next year when all the magazines and such go do their shootout.

BTW, I did call our two nearest BMW dealers yesterday. One seemed to have their head up their a$$ with pricing and such, the other was pretty cool - basically said, they aren't selling over MSRP, but not below at this time either due to the limited supply they anticipate. They said they should have their demo bike in January and their first shipment of 4 in February.

That Akrapovic slip-on really looks nice and tight but that cat is ugly. Not sure yet which way I will go between full system (Devil gets my vote right now) and slip-on (BMW part by Akrapovic). Ideally, I would want a full system with that short slip-on can.

My guess is the other manufacturers will be coming out w/slip-on's with a mid-pipe so you can keep the factory headers and get rid of the cat... kind of like Yosh (among others) did for the new CBR's. I'm sure someone will figure out a fairing/plate to cover the area up too. Will just take some time.

The shorter can does have a much better appearance (and sound I'd imagine).

EDIT: Cat and Headers are one piece... no cat delete pipe (mid-pipe) in the future unless you're willing to pull out your sawzaw!
