We just finished a really cool project with our friends over at KWS Motorsports that I thought you guys might find interesting.

We built a 1134cc motor. This is a 2mm over bore (Millennium Technologies) with a custom 4mm stroker crank. We used Custom CP 2mm over pistons, lightweight Carrillo Rods, and the KWS Head and Cam package. The bike has Brock pipe and the whole thing was tuned with a Bazzaz ZF-I. This is a low compression (13.5:1) combination that runs on pump gas and is fine with the stock cooling system.....

The cool part:

237hp on Pump Gas!

246hp on VP MR12 Race Gas!

This is BUILT Hayabusa power out of bike that weighs a 150lbs less! Sick!

and of course it gets a lightweight Ballistic EVO2 12 Cell!

Nice !!!

And I love your battery. I've been using an 8-cell in my S1K and it has been working beautifully.

:) There has been a lot of excitement behind the scenes with this bike, I already heard about it last weekend.

WOW! Just now realized that this is a SAE correction factor. It should be right over 250 wHP STD. I've tuned a heck of a lot of 1441 Busas with head/cam/pistons, that don't make near that.

I have known Kevin Hunt and Chip Spalding for many years and my opinion of both of them is very high. Everyone has their opinions and I feel that directly bashing KWS about this is very unprofessional and uncalled for.

If you have certain issues with either one of them I would ask you take it elsewhere. Try starting your own thread bashing them if you would like as this doesn't belong here. Please provide sufficient credible evidence if you want the forum members respect.

KWS is a very reputable shop and is one of the best in this small industry. Everyone must understand that anytime you modify engines from stock you take the risk to obtain more power.

I ride a GSXR 1143 and its more than enough power for me at 217hp, but this....thats insane power.

Chip, you have to post a vid of this beast idling and on a dyno run.

My friend just got his 2014 BMW s1000rr in 3 weeks ago. I'm not going to tell him about this thread.

That hp figure is incredible with 500 pound packcage its deep in the 7s. Who"s offering up these parts, are they off the shelf? Did you guys run shorter rods or offset the wrist pin 2mm. And if so were you able to keep all 3 rings. I already have cams and head package, now I wouldn't mind assembling a nifty bottom end like you guys got there.
By the way, shouldn't it be more than 13.5:1. With the overbore it should bump up the compression and the profile of the pistons being a bit flatter. Rite?

I never contacted Kevin as its none of my business..

Kevin has never posted on this forum that i am aware of so the reason he is "SILENT" is probably because he's not a member!

fighting your friends battle by being a keyboard cowboy does nothing but discredit your reputation here. we are all here for 1 thing and its to share and discuss everything pertaining to the bmw s1000rr, not your buddies bad dealings with a company you have no involvement with..

if you would like to discuss this further with me feel free to send a pm.

BMWIAN,

You're posts regarding KWS have been deleted. That said, the posts responding to yours with the posts quoted remain. I do see "partial" relevance to the posts in this thread because it's for a company selling a product for a large amount of money, however, at the end of the day there are five issues. 1. This information second hand. I would recommend having your friend come to this forum and starting a new thread about his experience in particular because 2. At the current time, the thread is about a 1134cc engine build and your posts are derailing this thread. 3. KWS is not on this site, so posting this information and fishing for a response is not going to solve/resolve anything for you or your buddy because 4. The poster no way associated with KWS, as he has stated. 5. The thread creator is a site sponsor.

I recommend KWS. My bike previous to the HP4 was a 2003 GSXR1000. With just stage 2 mods - headwork and cams, with the Leo Vince full exhaust that they recommended on MR9 (back then) let the bike run 195mph at the Texas Mile. I had the bike with those mods for 5 years without a single hiccup in reliability, nor did I have to touch the mapping. It didn't matter if it was race gas or 93 octane pump, although I'm sure specific tunes would have netted the best gain.

I trailered the bike to SC from TX, and then back when it was done. The schedule was maintained as promised (3 weeks to do at that time due to race season conflicts).

So while I can't vouch for anyone else, my build met my expectations and there were no issues. I plan on sending my HP4 to Kevin for work when I decide to add more internal engine mods.

I am not associated in any way with KWS, Ballistic, or any other motorcycle shop (save for Gulf Coast BMW where I bought my bike because I used to race for them). I did get to tour the shop and talk to Kevin about a lot of things such as the R&D for Aprilia he was doing at the time, with a mountain of parts they had sent him. As a mechanical engineer myself, it was pretty neat to see what they were in to. And I can say that while the shop is small, they have what they need to produce results. You should see some of the labs at NASA where I work - many are smaller than that and build spaceflight hardware.

Again, I can't vouch for anyone or anything else about KWS other than my experiences and the fact I would (and will) give them my business again.
