Just did my first track day (ever) with the RR. Whoooo-hooooo. I'm hooked. Did through sportbiketracktime. Nicely organized. Did Novice level 3, think I'll be with that group through another few sessions at this point. Observations:
1) What a blast
2) SBTT instruction very good
3) RR is definitely the right peg for the right hole
4) Started DDC settings at baseline, ended up front +1, rear, +1 comp, base rebound. Was running - neg numbers due to road conditions in SE Mich.
5) Started tires (stock Pirelli Supercorsa's) R32/F30, went to R26/F30 on Michelin tire tech recco, seemed to help
6) Ran in sport mode, don't have race pug in. Don't think I got to any interventions, however definately want more engine braking, and might go to user mode to tweak eng response and leave interventions where they are
7) At my level it's about the user not the equipment. Riders on GS's and R's in my group I had a hard time keeping pace with.
8) Chicken strips no more
9) A lot more exhausting than I had imagined. Called it a day half way through the first open track session as I was getting tired and making mistakes I wasn't happy with
10) Very educational, confidence inspiring, and an absolute blast.
11) Great group of folks, enjoying themselves, and no brand snobbishness, except the Ducatistis, who were admittedly the most fashionable at the track >
12) Rossi need not lose any sleep over my prospects
