Saw this in latest MCN...recall for certain 2016-17 RR's and '17 R models. Very limited recall on the RR (21 units):
"BMW North America, LLC (BMW) is recalling certain model year 2016-2017 S 1000 RR motorcycles manufactured June 8, 2016, to November 16, 2016, and 2017 S 1000 R motorcycles manufactured on October 12, 2016. One of the bolts on the rear suspension deflection lever may loosen and adversely affect the handling of the motorcycle."
This was hardly even a thing. It was a very small amount of bikes world wide and even less in US and AUS. It would have been and over tightened bolt and nut so they just need to replace them. Hardly a issue.
Interesting. I've had my bike for five months now and all of a sudden, my suspension felt silly bouncy; but I've never made any adjustments to it. I was able to go into the DDC settings and tighten it up to eliminate the bouncing, but i have never had to do that before. Brought it into the dealer the next day and they said my bike is fine though. ?????
I weigh 150 pounds btw; maybe 160 suited up.
Isn't this bike tuned for a 170 pound rider otd?
I weigh the same as you and all geared up I weigh about 170 lbs. The factory settings for the DDC is "0" which of course actually means in the middle of the range.
These settings are too stiff/hard for me. I have to compromise - a good front setting "-3 "up until I really start moving - because then I really need to be on the brakes and then that is a bit too soft. Go the other way such as "0" and the front is bouncing but hard braking is good.
The rear I run both comp/reb at "-1" and that again is okay "-2" is better on bumpy tacks - again all a compromise.
I think I'm going to re-spring it and then I will have better results.
So when you state you tighten it up what did you actually do?
I closed this thread, persistent offtopic stuff that should be going somewhere that people are able to search - maybe Suspension Setup and Mods.
