New 2016...or New 2017?

Hello,

I have a S1000R (Single-R) and am considering getting a RR. The question is whether I should go ahead and get a '16 or wait for the '17 to be announcement so I understand if there are any new features/colors that would impact my decision. I understand the changes for the '17 are probably minor, but knowing the '17 landscape could still sway my decision. So I guess my question is: based on history (or knowledge) when would the '17 normally be announced? I asking because some here may have a good guess.

Thx!

The dealer tells me that there are no changes coming for 2017. But no "official" word yet. I would watch for incentives on the 2016 and make a deal based on that.

My 'guess' is that there will be little to no updates on the 17. My thoughts and wish list would be ABS PRO really part of the 17 releases and that would maybe drive the price of the 15/16 upgrade down. Then my next wish item would be a TFT cluster that just happen to be backward compatible with the 15/16.

It is only about 45 more days to the usual MCN release rumors, so, I would wait on that release of 17 information. Then as mentioned, there is always the clearance of current and previous year discounts that usually start in September too.

Welcome to the site, if you are in no hurry, I would wait. You might be able to save some money on the 2016's that way.

I ordered a 2016...I took advantage of 0.9% which I was able to qualify for.

There was also a couple cash back offers which took the price down some somewhat significantly so it was an easy choice.

My understanding is that the 17s will have to conform to the Euro 4 standards.
So they could be restricted just like the R1 and ZX10 are.

Generally agree updates will be limited. But even a color change or could sway me, perhaps? Your "wish list" updates are modest and in addition to the ABS Pro and TFT display, I'd like to see upgraded LED or HID headlights, to replace the sorry ones they have now. I'd put all these upgrades in the "modest" category, which is doable, albeit probably unlikely. So you believe MCN is a possible announcement? I am wondering what the latest BMW may wait?
