2014 S1000RR?
Because of medical reasons, I won't be able to ride a bike until after June of next year. This is the same reason I sold my 2009 K1300S last December 2011. I have been a lurker in here since then.
Anybody have any clues about the 2014 model? Any changes?

Didn't think I'd see this post till the Spring... LOL.
My guess (yes 'guess') is no, you will not. Manufactures seem to do updates about every 3yrs, which is also what BMW did this past go around. You may see some very minor things (body work, colors) but in general I'd bet 10:1 that it'll be the same (in general).

anyone's guess I suppose whether DDC will be made optional on the S1000RR in 2014, but it WILL be either optional or standard - it's just a matter of time.

Agree 2014 will just see minor changes. I think, in part, depends on how BMW as a whole is doing.
The past few years have been very rough, so I was surprised to see such dramatic updates to the '12 bike.
I hope you feel better soon. It's smart to wait and stay off a bike until your medical issues have cleared up. I've ridden with some pretty serious medical issues in the past; it wasn't smart.
Get well soon. The S1/HP4, in whatever form it takes on, will be waiting for you. If it remains the same, it's still one of the best platforms ever made, if not the best sportbike ever made.
Cheers,
W

I was told that BMW were using 2 year cycles and it seems to be true as of the 2012 release so maybe a few more newer things on the 2014 model. I woulkd of thought that DCC would be on it. I nearly went for an HP4 but decided against as for the amount of riding i have done this year it would be a waste plus the fact that the DCC and other HP4 bits will end up on the 2014/15 models

IMHO one of the major selling points on the HP4 is the DDC. Since the HP4 is being produced through 2014 I'm guessing the S1KRR will have many of the same features in 2015.

the original plan was to do two-year updates to keep up with the Japanese (all other BMW models have 4-5 year cycles). But the Big Four have been pretty slow with the market slowdowns, so BMW isn't under pressure to stick to such a fast update cycle.

Well I think the 2014 or 2015 will be a bike that will have DDC,advance DTC-ABS plus maybe LED lights and more techno frick dush. There will be no forged wheels or Akrapovic. It will look on the outside a bit different but with the same engine and handling of the 2012.Now the HP4 of the >2016 well who knows, maybe a 2D dash or better with forged wheels and exhaust?
All these not because of the Big four, for the moment, but for the European rivals...
