only ethyl alcohol will remove sharpie. You will have to try on some other surface to see if it withstands the clear coat. If not that lid will be sitting on a shelf.

Only if you're planning on touching yourself..... It may be hard to tell, but my collectable helmet has been put in a viewable display case for all to see when they visit me. You should be able to find one online pretty easy.
