I don't have a total break down, I had them do the 600 mile service, remove / grease / reinstall the axles, install the grips and check a few other odds and ends.

anyone ever do a 'how to' on adding these yourself? or how much labor would be to have the dealer do it?

Default OEM Heated Grips: 2012 Retrofit

@ Reject

The warmers from factory do exactly what you say, you leave them on then when you start the bike the next time they will be on.

I thought it was strange... But if you used them on a cold night, then stopped for a bit, then like me forgot they were on, you will never have cold hands and go "oh ****, my warmers"... Lol

Anyone knows if the Factory BMW Retrofit you guys are talking about can be done to a 2011. I'm trying to keep the Bike moreless Factory but being in Canada, Heated grips are oh so nice.

Paper Clip Boy,

I read something on this when I was researching my issue, i.e. the topic of this thread, but can't remember.

The answer to your question depends on the wiring harness of the 2011-11 models. The 2012 has the necessary wiring already in house, whereas since the option was heretofore unavailable the harness may not support a retrofit of the heated grips. A trip to your local dealer and the parts department, should get you a pic of the wiring harness on your bike vis-a-vis the heated grips.

Good luck,

Curtis
