I don't have a total break down, I had them do the 600 mile service, remove / grease / reinstall the axles, install the grips and check a few other odds and ends.
The warmers from factory do exactly what you say, you leave them on then when you start the bike the next time they will be on.
I thought it was strange... But if you used them on a cold night, then stopped for a bit, then like me forgot they were on, you will never have cold hands and go "oh ****, my warmers"... Lol

Anyone knows if the Factory BMW Retrofit you guys are talking about can be done to a 2011. I'm trying to keep the Bike moreless Factory but being in Canada, Heated grips are oh so nice.
I read something on this when I was researching my issue, i.e. the topic of this thread, but can't remember.
The answer to your question depends on the wiring harness of the 2011-11 models. The 2012 has the necessary wiring already in house, whereas since the option was heretofore unavailable the harness may not support a retrofit of the heated grips. A trip to your local dealer and the parts department, should get you a pic of the wiring harness on your bike vis-a-vis the heated grips.
