I hooked up straight the the ignition coil on the left side of the bike. You have to remove the left side panel. Worked pretty well for me.

When I did mine (dyno), I didn't even remove the panel... think I just removed one bolt or two so I could pry it back just a hair... reached in, clipped it on.

like said above. i also 'peel' back the loom and clip on to the red/black wire for best signal
