Running-in complete but...

So I'm kinda bummed out. I did the running-in check yesterday at 467 miles at the dealer. They said the limiter is taken off at this time. I was all excited and a bit nervous and decided to open 'er up right after and I felt the engine cut. I've never hit the limiter while breaking in and didn't know what to expect. Do I have to adjust the rev limiter up at home? The shift light is still at 7k. I just haven't had time to screw with it as I got called into a barrage of work right after the service!

Thanks for listening and input!

If the bike fell on it's face at 9K RPM then they did not remove the break in limiter.

If in 6th and the bikes going yea, yea, yea then you get to 128mph and the bikes says gtfo I'm still being run in. You have still got a break in limiter.

Update: spoke with the dealer and they advised that they unlocked it. I have to go into "user mode" and increase the rev limiter myself. Bike is a 2016RR.

I don't think that's how it works. Redline is available in all modes. You can adjust the shift light but not when the engine cuts out.

I went through the exact same. Hear me out.
Question 1: are you able to hit the MODE BUTTON and cycle through the available modes: rain, sport, race, slick, and user.
If yes, they have installed the coding plug. If no, Return to dealer.

Question 2: after the initial service, have you taken the bike past 9,000 rpm. Like 10, 11, 12 etc. if you are not able to go past 9k rpm, then they have not removed the limiter.

The shift light that comes on at 7k rpm is from the factory. You can change it by yourself. See page 111 in owners manual .

I'll try to paste it

Easy way to find out... Open up your package with your user manual and stuff. There is a black vinyl bag with a plug in it. If the plug is in the bag they didn't unlock it. If the plug is missing, you can take off your seat and make sure the plug is inserted into the cable correctly.

Their words/phrasing is incorrect, imo. Using the SET button, you can access SETUP MENU ENTER by holding the Hutton down. Then cycle through the settings till you hit SETUP RACETRACK.
Then go to GSL-ON RPM. This is what they/your dealer referred to as "rev limiter" . Hold down the set button and it will let you change the light to something higher.
