back on topic...during the summer, armored pants insulate from the heat, but only up to a certain degree. For running around town, I wear BMW armored jeans or BMW Summer pants, and a BMW Airshell jacket. For mobility, I wear Joe Rocket sneakers instead of Dainese race boots, and Dainese gloves with no wrist support instead of BMW DoubleR gloves.

It is downgraded protection from full leathers, to go textile and have no wrist or ankle protection. But creaking around the mall in race boots just doesn't work!

I never claim gear will let me walk away from anything; I do say that it dramatically increases odds of survival and reduces the severity of injuries.

^^^^^Agreed

If a person goes to the beach, adamantly refuses to wear sun block and gets burned does he get the right to get all pissy when nobody wants to tell him how to turn down the sun?

Seriously, every activity has appropriate equipment to participate. It IS a person's choice not to wear the equipment. But they should also be prepared to accept any discomfort that choice leads to.

I recently had my inner leg on the left side lightly burned even wearing leathers. Granted it was over 112 degrees and it was stop and go for about an hour in traffic. I talked to my dealer in North Scottsdale and he told me that they are wrapping the frames to help with this issue.

Then our friend in the shorts would have gotten 3rd degree burns, sued BMW and we'd all suffer thru a recall on all bikes so they could add this to the gas cap

It was useful, flwbyu. I laughed

How about this then: riding any motorcycle while wearing shorts is gonna have heat issues (along with the obvious protection issues we won't bother mentioning). The left side of the s1k gets hotter than the right. It's noticeable, but not uncomfortable, thru my kelvar reinforced jeans. And not noticeable at all when I'm wearing my TP Forcefield limb tubes with the jeans.

I didn't knock his choice to ride wearing shorts (much ). But it is rather like what I said earlier bout getting sunburned at the beach: rather than wear the sunblock, you go around asking people how to turn down the sun.

What are they using to wrap the frames?
