Another rattler here. I have an '11 model work full exhaust, HP levers, etc. I personally think it's something below my windscreen, because if I press on it from the outside-in, it stops. Like some of you, it only happens when the exhaust rumbles and it's very annoying. I had HID's and put the regular bulbs back in due to fuse issues and BMW recommendation. The issue was there and still is. Very annoying.

I didn't make a video of the fix , I had made a video of me shaking it when it was off and you can hear the rattle but the video didn't record any sound.

Great thread, I wish I found it earlier. I have the exact same rattle. I took off all my plastics, windscreen, horn, and headlight housings. From there I rode up in down a country road in 2nd with my throttlemeister locked at 5800 rpm's. Finally after a few minutes, I was able to find that the rattle was coming from that black key lock box. To verify your bike's rattle problem too, just squeeze the black box (finger on the top and bottom) behind the key and the noise stops.
Thanks for your help Luker669, now I just need to apply your fix!

I had an interesting one and hard to pin point as it only could be heard at about the same revs as you...4-6k ..
Inside the tank was the location, in there it has a bob/lever weight that swings about freely which comes in to play when your bike gets dropped and it shuts off the fuel to the pump by closing a needle valve (safety cut out for fuel)..
It can easily be taken out and solved, the weight swivels on a small pin with small washers and the washers wear down thru use, all i did was removed the pin, washers and weight and squeezed the pin mounting lugs in very slightly which takes up the slap on the sideways movement of the weight (which was the cause of the rattle)......
Also if you have this rattle it can be heard more easily if your tank is less full as it echos more...and if you remove your tank and empty the fuel and shake the tank from side to side you will hear the rattle..
Probably not the source for your rattle but worth posting...or put in a sticky (if the forum has one for faults)?
Good luck
