Default Drilling Fairing Required for Frame Sliders on 2012

I'm supposed to pick up my 2012 next saturday and was having R&G frame sliders installed but my salesman informed me due to the new fairings that one side (forget which side he said) required the fairing be drilled to install. With that in mind I told him to hold off for now. Has anyone heard of any 2012frame sliders that do not require drilling?

If it comes down to drilling or no frame sliders I may just drill, but would prefer to not have to drill a fairing.

Of course I know I will never lay it down so why worry, right???

There's a no drill R&G slider on their website but it hasn't been released yet.

Its the right side:

I don't know if any company has yet developed a no-cut frame slider, but maybe it would be a good idea to wait for few more weeks.

Thanks for the update...it must be really new, as of a couple weeks ago I didn't see it...good to know that one is on the way.

It looks like they have moved the slider away from the fairing by mounting it to a backing plate that bolts into the frame:

Not sure how strong the entire slider assembly is gonna be in the event of a crash.

I dont know how the BMW ones will hold up. I wrecked my 2007 R1 at about 20 mph, and the frame slider snapped offf..It was the same design as the no cut version shown above. My friend had a wreck at about 35mph and he had a cut version and his slider was fairly scratched up but no damage to the bike.

Yeah just looking at the no drill/cut design it doesn't look like it would take much to snap it off...maybe it will only help if your GF tips it in the drive way (ouch...!)

Hmmm, I think I'll just hold off and make sure the old brain is calibrated to not be cocky on wet downhill turns. The only time I've ever dropped a scooter...too much front brake (my last thought while squeezing the front brake, just before I hit the pavement was something I read that Kenny Roberts said about rain..."It's still a race, the track is just wet"....proof positive I am no Kenny Roberts...haha.)

FWIW I cut mine free hand with a dremel and they came out ok.

when I looked online for no cut frame sliders I kept finding pictures of them snapped off from crashes. I didn't like the idea of cutting the plastics but I also couldn't think of a time when I would ride around without them, leaving a visible hole.
I can't quite tell by the picture but it looks like the 2012 has a worse location than the 2010-2011.

R&G (as already mentioned) and PUIG. Both are not yet available.
