Default Best Ballast Attachment Materials

I'm currently installing a pair of HIDs on the bike and I'm wondering what the best products are to attach the ballasts to the bike.

I think this could be useful info for others so I'd like to hear what you think.

I've read all/most of the installation threads for HIDs. I have the front fairing off, and I'm going to install both low and high beam units (DIDs).
  • I'm going to install the low beam ballast on the inside of the left front fairing where there is a lot of room and it's flat.
  • I'm thinking of installing the high beam ballast on top of the black plate on the bottom of the air intake because there is room and it is almost flat (a slight curve to it). I can't use the right side fairing because it is taken up by the cooling overflow reservoir.
  • I've decided against the idea of piggy-backing both ballasts under the air intake because of my concern that heat transfer would be blocked that way, or there may be a failure to stick well like that.
My question is:
  • Do you riders have a brand of Velcro that has great sticking power on the adhesive sides and won't peel off the bike plastics or bottom of the ballast in the heat of summer, by heat of the ballast, or when it gets all wet? What is it and where did you find it?
  • If you have a double-sided tape that works as well and has enough cushion to make sure a slight curve will still ensure it sticks to both pieces - what is it and where did you find it?
While guesses or ideas are welcome, I'd really like to hear back from some of you who have done installations and can recommend particular products based on experience, and length of time and miles riding in all sorts of weather conditions. I ride a lot. If you have done an installation and the bike pretty much sits in the garage, thats OK, but let me know so I can judge whether the product you are recommending has been "tested" or not.

Pictures would be welcome too.

Thanks guys.

I used the bead locking velcro. Have used it in many different applications and is ridiculously strong.

I think the industrial 3M stuff is great also, I believe the red is what indicates the industrial version.

Use molding 3m double sided. Works great and you can almost hang on it.
