Performance question re: "burning rubber"
My 2012 doesn't get in til next week so I am left to live vicariously through you guys...haha. I am going crazy waiting. Anyway just curious...my question is, will the S1000RR turn the rear tire over just by applying throttle from a rolling start? For example you leave a red light at normal acceleration, can you just roll the throttle and will the back tire break loose? No clutch involved? My H2-750 would do that way back in the day, but my FJ1100 with yoshimura exhaust back in the late 80's would not. I also had a '92 Nissan 300Z twin turbo that would roll the tires just by pressing the go pedal from a rolling start....so will the S1RR do that?

If you crack on the throttle you are gonna point it straight up!

NO.... Not unless the road surface is slippery or similar. Even with cold tires, you won't get wheelspin with traction control on.
If you are in "slick" mode, then yes.. I have had wheelspin in 5th gear while accelerating in a straight line.

You will not get any unmanageable wheelspin from a stop unless you crack on it with TC off from a dead stop. There isnt much power below 5k rpm. If you are worried about too much power down low then put it in rain mode. Even in race mode from a dead stop you really have it hit it hard to get unmanageable wheelspin. TC really tames things down in the wheelspin department.

Oh an i have ridden power wheelies on wet roads. These things have good traction when using good tires.

Not worried about it being uncontrollable just wondering if the bike will do it with the big sticky tires...DTC in slick mode I mean...in other words I want to feel the rear end break loose on throttle roll...guess I will find out soon enough...sounds like the answer is no on a dry road...my H2 had 70's era skinny tires but it sure was fun to hang the rear end out when you wanted to...ala motocross bikes, except on pavement.

I seriously doubt it, not because of not having enough power, but because the tire will stay hooked up. Plus, to break the tire loose like that you would need a snap in power which a hard roll on will not give you. Now, stand up, lean a little bit forward putting more weight on the front tire, and clutch it up and I don't think you will have a problem spinning the tire.

Thanks....that was what I suspected given the tire technology on the new(er) bikes...not only did my H2 have skinny bias ply tires, it was also a two stroke which had a crazy power curve, it started htting hard at about 4,000 or 5,000 rpm with the redline at only around 8,500 on my bike....plus I weighed all of 135 lbs back then, which didn't hurt the cause.

I know for a fact cracking the throttle in race mode on cold tires will spin the rear up. I accidently did it last week leaving my house. Caught me way off guard. If it wasn't for my dirt bike days, i probably would've dropped my shiny bike
