Default Stop spending too much for leather racing suits!!!

I made an amazing discovery the other day from one of the other motorcycle forums I belong to. I'm in the process of trying to find a leather suit for drag racing or have one custom made like a lot of drag racers have done. I found a thread that recommended everyone to check out this company located in New York, leather-shop.biz and their phone number is (315)307-8923. They have hundreds of different styles in leather racing suits that exceed DOT and racing standards. Plus, they can custom make a suit for you exactly as you desire with logos, flames, and anything you can think of. The best part is that their prices start at $464.00. Check them out, because you don't have to pay $900.00-$1800.00 to get a good quality leather racing suit.

Keep us posted on your experience w/them assuming you order one... On the other forum, had anyone crash tested one?

As far as I know no one has yet, but a lot of Harley Davidson drag racers are buying them. I talked to Ron yesterday from there and he told me the main reason he wanted to keep his prices low is to keep customers, get referral business, and repeat business. It makes sense when you consider how expensive racing suits can get. Some of the racing suits on the market are so expensive that it is like putting a down payment on another motorcycle.

I don't know but when it comes to safety, I'd rather not cheap out. The padding the brand name suits use have been made using their many years of experience in the sport.

I understand your point, but I would never cheat myself on safety. A lot of rider's have referred them. Most of the times in retail you are paying for a name and that name you are paying for did not produce it. The name brand you are paying for is more than likely made in China, India, or Taiwan.

Not that I ever want to see someone go down... but that is really where it's at. Keep us posted if you hear of any offs w/their suits.

There are some suits out on the market that are VERY inexpensive... and it turns out that they didn't fair well in even medium speed get-offs at the track. Seams blowing out, holes in leathers, etc. Not that that means the same w/these guys, but obviously that becomes a question/concern when you venture away from some of the Industry veterans.

It is true that a lot of today's products are made in SE Asia however not all products are produced in the same fashion. We have found that the inexpensive leather options, similar to what you have posted, have issues with seams, leather quality, and armor. A majority of the larger brands will have their staff and quality control on site. This added step makes a HUGE difference in the final product.

I would keep an eye out for sales or closeouts on a better product instead of taking a chance on a one off brand for something as important as your riding gear.

Just my 2 cents

Default IMO....

I think there are many products with crazy mark ups, I'm a believer that this may be one of those markets.

Case in point. You can buy a suit for $600, from the same company/brand you can also buy a suit for $1,800. Seems somewhere there is room for excessive mark-up, as I see it, a few hours of labor here and there can make a suit a lot better, just not $1,200 better.

My point exactly Triple Threat. In fact, this same company produces leather suits for these so-called name brand items we pay too much for. Most Americans don't look for ways to cut out the middle man or the retailer, they just shut up and pay for it.
