Scorpion. Works. No false alarms. Automatic arming and disarming, no need to push buttons. Good product.

Plugged in a few connectors, tested, and it worked! It's like hooking up a computer, but a little easier lol!

as someone who had a scorpio in the past and asked bmw about this here is my input/opinion.

i was going to order the bmw alarm on my 2012 and the dealer looked at me like i was retarded. then laughed at me.

i had the scorpio i900 or whatever on my sv1000s, it was alright but i didnt really get anything out of it. anytime that it would be useful to arm it was like when i wondered away at a bike night and i couldnt arm the proximity sensor cause there was always people around in some capacity.

my dealer basically said they only had one customer bike reported stolen in the last few years and it was recovered a few hours later and are not aware of any bmws being stolen in our area at all in recent years. i think since bmw implemented that CAN-BUS.

other than walking away with the entire bike i dont think its worth stealing. the keys are laser cut and they said that bmw can hardly get them to run at all when bypassing the CAN-BUS. i think keys can be deactivated on these bikes as well if you lose one.

my dealer seemed to feel that it was near impossible to use it for anything. yea the engine can be lifted and put into another bike...but the other bike needs to have intact electronics they said.

tl;dr other than this bike being smaller, it would be like trying to steal a bmw car basically.
also, didnt BMW do some kind of UV marking to all the key parts on the 2012 cycles?

but back on topic of the alarms, if i were to get one on this bike i would get the rlink.
i had the i900 or whatever but it got kinda annoying when the batteries in the remotes got weak and sometimes i wasnt able to disarm it. fun times. (they were some proprietary li-ion batts that got weak pretty quickly)

having had an alarm before i am not going to install an alarm on my 2012

if you get one of dont lose or break your remote they are expensive. i think when i asked about battery replacement they said it was proprietary and the remote needs replaced. i had 2 remotes and both batteries let go really fast (enough to where i would NEED to charge it at least every day)

good luck! you probably cant go wrong with a scorpio and im pretty sure its better than the BMW solution.

+1 for the rLink. I love mine, there are plenty of post regarding that alarm.

I was impressed with Scorpio's email support when I asked a question about features. They replied with an answer about two minutes later. I thought they had closed up for the weekend. I wish more companies could do that.

lol...now i dont know what to get! Well the rlink is nice because it offers trip information and its an app on your iphone...which would eliminate the need for a separate pager-type system. And also as mentioned above, i mean my concern is someone just walking away with the whole bike. i mean I've invested a ton of money into this bike so whats a couple extra couple hundred bucks for an alarm system?
