Default BMW S1000RR HP4

Can anyone confirm rumours of a new HP model based on the S1000RR slated to be released summer of 2012!?

as found on another forum:

[I]S1000RR "HP4" (CONFIRMED)
by SwOrdFiscH on Tue Dec 13, 2011 2:55 pm

Just got back from the 2012 BMW dealer meeting in Toronto Canada, An AG representative confirmed that BMW will release a S1000RR HP4 in August 2012. Obviously they did not give us details/pricing on the product, but that it is coming. And it sounds like they have a few tricks up there sleeve aswell.

I highly doubt they will. They already have a HP package and it runs 4500 dollars or so. Full exhaust, race ECU, and enabling codes. I highly doubt they sell very many of those packages. Would you pay 22k or so for a bike that got 195hp at the Wheel? You are into 1199S range, RSV4 Factory, etc.

I should have clarified. I meant you are into the price range for a top of the line ducati or Aprilia. If i was spending 22k on a bike it wouldnt be a BMW with 15 more RWHP. It would be a 1199S or RSV4 Factory.

The hp4 would be different than the race package already offered I would presume. The previous hp models have their own paint colors and usually include some carbon bits plus it would be great if they would put the f1 style dash on it.

He said they will call it the S1000RR HP with the following list of upgrades:
  • Full Ohlins latest race suspension
  • Brembo's lightest, latest monoblocks
  • lighter wheels, aluminum or possible carbon
  • engine mods to push to 200 rwhp, new mapping
  • frame, swingarm, front suspension, steering head mods to handle the extra hp
  • distinctive body panel upgrades, carbon fiber bits everywhere

Let's use this thread to post teaser's, press releases, rider impressions, etc...
It ought to be an interesting year.

Just for comparison here is Ducati's summary video of all of the details of the Panigale.

Rhody...

This was posted in the tech performance chat section and the above is the op's first post.

If this were the price is right I would bid $25,900 US.

This package is crap which is why they didn't sell any. A BMW with the above packages will definitely compete against the under 30k exotics.

Now that's a matter of opinion.
I wouldn't spend $15,000 (USD) on either of those POS!
I would however, spend more than $22,000 (USD) on an S1000RR with the right goodies.

I'd love to see that. I had the pleasure of spending a weekend with the HP2 Sport and it is quite simply the best bike I've ever ridden. It was by no means the quickest but it was just an incredible package that worked. I spent a lot of time deciding whether to got HP2 Sport or S1000RR and I'm happy with the choice I made but an HP4 Sport based on the S1000RR would be incredible. Hopefully they'll copy the structural carbon fibre tail unit and bodywork with a nice 2D race dash similar to that on the HP2 Sport, preferably with a colour display.

The 1199 and S1000RR are 2 different approaches of SBK.The S and HP4(if there will be any) are going to be very good but in my opinion too much money for the average rider.Sure you could buy it,sure you can spent your well earned $$$$$ in them, but the S1000RR(simple) and 1199 are more capable than 99.99% of the riders that buy them.So in my opinion the difference in $$$$$ could go in training and trackdays.Believe me in this way you will be a better rider and will have more fun for sure.Ok I understand that you cannot say to your buddies that you have the GPS/TTX/FGR/ etc on the bike but you can go faster and most significant safer. Then if you think that your bike is not enough in some area you can buy suspension, exhaust (like I did...) etc.My 2 cent.
