Default Insurance question

I have a 2012 S1RR supposed to arrive in the next week or two and have started looking at insurance (Got a progressive quote via the web and have my local independent agent getting some quotes)...the quote i got from progressive was $1,800...it had some property and medical and injury protection..i think i asked for $50k in damages and $100K in medical, and for uninsured motorist coverage. But as a 55 yo guy with a clean driving record (the stacks of speeding tickets I got in my youth are long gone...haha, but perhaps to return with a S1RR between my legs) I was expecting some very inexpensive rates...are there any bike specialty insurance companies that I should check with or is it just the usual names?

State Farm should be less than 1/2 that... but much depends on your local and the theft/claims rate. If you have good health insurance, you might not need much (or any) medical.

I did really well with GMAC. $1,142 per year for 3 bikes, including the S1000RR which is $385 all by itself per year. I'm 51 years old. No tickets or accidents.

That's full coverage with the following:
50/100K
15/30K
30/60K
$250 Deductible

I own an insurance agency and it depends on which state you in?

What state do you live in? Rider Insurance co is who I have my 2011 S1RR insurance with and I pay $467 for the YEAR for full coverage. I'm 39 with no tickets. If you are in a state that Rider does business, they will be very cheap. They only do motorcycle/atv/powersports ins. Check their website if you are in a state that they cover.

I can vouch for nazgul i live in jersey one of the worst states for scoots and i am 28 no acc or tix and i also have full coverage 100/500 30/60 and 60/120 full coverage and mine is 638.00$ for the year so with all the coverage i have it is pretty low i would def give them a chance if your in a state they cover

For me Geico so far was the cheapest which sucked cause I wanted to keep everything with USAA but they go through Nazi err I mean Progressive. Just do your research and remember you can always switch mid way if someone is much cheaper. It really depends on where you live though and with some your Credit Score

Yeah I have progressive but ONLY because that's who USAA uses them. However I have to admit I got a reasonabe price. I am getting quotes from Farmers now. They seem cheap.
