Default Helmet questions

Hey Guys, NFG here...I am getting back into go fast scooters after a long drought (I have a Red 2012 S 1000 RR on order...supposed to be in next week)...anyway has anyone had any personal experience with either the AGV GP Tech helmets or the Bell Star helmets? I have listened to a couple reviews on youtube but thought I'd ask here too...my plans for the Bimmer is mostly street riding with possibly a track day down the road. In the right circumstances I'm sure I will ride it at speed even on the street so need an appropriate hat.

Have you tried each one on? Which one fits your head better?

I was told anywhere from one week to a month from my dealer here in california on my bike. Good luck on getting yours sooner.

Default New 2012 is already in NY on way to Orlando

My dealer here in Orlando said the bike that I wanted (Red/white/black) was the first one they were getting and that the other 7 deposits were for 5 blacks and 2 motorad racing colors...it arrived in NY on Monday so should be in Orlando next week...so i guess i kinda lucked out.

+1

Good fit is critical. In my opinion, you can not pick a helmet without trying it on first. They are internally shaped differently and fit differently. Proper fit is critical to keeping a helmet properly on in an accident, to maximize the ability of the helmet to disperse impact.

For a while Arai's fit me best, then Shoei, then AGV, then Scorpion, then Suomy and now Bell (RSD Speed Freak). The makers change their fit over time and no one else has exactly your head shape, so you need to try them on before you make a decision.

The AGV and Bell are both good helmets. The bigger question that needs to be answered is how do they fit you,

Default Helmets

I just purchased an XXL Bell RS1 Born Free helmet from STG and it fit perfectly. I have 2 Arai Quantum2 XXL that I also like very much. As others have stated here, the fit is most important.

Ill believe it when I see/hear it myself from the dealer here. Someone said weeks ago he heard that they were in a warehouse in new-jersey. The dealer here cant give me a date at all.
