Default Garmin zumo 660

Hello there peeps just a quick one.

I wondered if any of you might have one on the bike as iv recently purchased one and have noticed it screeches and clicks n sounds like old dial up connection Internet. It makes these noises from the speaker and just wonder if it had anything to do with the can bus system on the bike.

Initially I thought it was the Ecu blowing up underneath the tank lol..

Anyone herd of this or had this.

Mine doesn't do any of that. I have mine hardwired to the battery though. Try it that way and see what happens.

Yeah connect it to the batt or install a noise filter (like for an am radio).

These days you shouldn't really need a noise filter with any electronics. The more I thought about it the more I belive he tapped into the wrong power source or has an exposed wire in his power cable.

An exposed wire is different from a broke wire. And can be hard to detect. It is more prevalent in a coax type cable. And remember I am just giving opinions on your discreption of the problem. So short of a bad power cable or poor power source, I can only come back to a bad grounding point. To troubleshoot the problem you should hook it directly to the battery and see if the noise goes away. If so then your cable is good and you need to look at where you are getting your power from. Better yet where do you have it grounded to? That is all I can suggest without seeing/hearing the problem in person.

I have all the extra cables sockets wrapped in electrical tape. Could be the problem or it could be just a bad Garmin.

Does it make the noise when it's off the bike?
